JB Hi-Fi staff provide a Helping Hand

In 2019, McAuley and JB Hi-Fi began a ten-year partnership through its multi-award-winning, high-impact workplace giving program, ‘Helping Hands’. The Program allows JB Hi-Fi employees to donate to one of ten charity partners, of which McAuley is one, through regular payroll deductions which are matched dollar-for-dollar by JB Hi-Fi. Charity partners are chosen from across a broad range of sectors, identified as being important to staff as well as aligning closely with the company’s values. With 72 per cent of its workforce (6,000 employees) giving to the Program each week, Helping Hands is a national leader in workplace giving.

“We are so grateful to be part of the Helping Hands giving program,” says Felicity Pringle, Head of Advocacy, Market and Fundraising. “We have such a great partnership with JB Hi-Fi. Workplace giving programs are such a simple and effective way of supporting organisations like ours and they have such a positive impact on staff. It’s a great outcome for everyone involved.”

In 2023-24, matched donations by JB Hi-Fi staff made up over 15 per cent of McAuley’s overall fundraising, a significant figure that has greatly impacted our innovation capacity.

“Long-term, ongoing partnerships like the one we have with JB Hi-Fi enable us to continue to pursue our innovation and advocacy agenda, influencing policy and resourcing for better systemic responses,” says Jocelyn Bignold OAM, McAuley CEO. “Sector-leading advocacy projects like Safe at Home and McAuley Learning Support require years of research, collaboration and advocacy to ensure we are developing the best solutions to help more people, more quickly and comprehensively. Support from partners like JB Hi-Fi enable us to focus our efforts on initiatives like this.”

McAuley provides monthly updates to JB Hi-Fi, outlining developments across the organisation and sharing how support is impacting the lives of vulnerable women and children in our communities.

Throughout Workplace Giving Month in June this year, McAuley was invited to speak to teams at five JB Hi-Fi stores across Victoria.

“This was a wonderful opportunity to share more about McAuley’s work,” said Felicity. “We were able to show teams how their donations were making a difference, meet new faces and thank JB Hi-Fi for their ongoing support.”

We thank JB Hi-Fi and its generous workforce for their incredible ongoing commitment and help to grow support for our work. We look forward to continuing this partnership and ensuring that together we can continue to make a real impact in our communities.
